MARKING:

Markings shall be permanently secured and shall be molded, die-stamped, paint-stenciled, stamped, or etched metal or indelibly applied lettering on a label secured by adhesive or glue complying with CSA Standard C22.2 No. 0.15.

  1.  rated nominal voltage, (Vrms or Vdc);
  2. frequency in Hz;
  3. allowable ampacity (Amps), based on ambient temperature* of XX degree C, and based on a maximum operating temperature of XX degree C – short circuit current rating;
  4. number of phases (poles for dc);
  5. 3-wire or 4-wire;
  6. maximum continuous current rating XX degree C, when connected to a 100% continuous rated overcurrent device; and
  7. maximum continuous current rating XX degree C, when connected to a 80% continuous rated overcurrent device;

The temperature is the maximum ambient temperature that the equipment was designed to operate in

a) the month and year of manufacture, at least, shall be marked on the cablebus system in a location accessible without the use of tools;

Note: Date coding, serial numbers, or equivalent means may be used.

b) the number of conductors and size per phase;

c) as a minimum, the allowable ampacity (Amps) based on a maximum operating temperature of 75C shall be included on the nameplate;

d) the type of material, such as stainless steel (including the type), aluminum, etc., and, if carbon steel, Type 1 (hot-dip galvanized), Type 2 (mill galvanized), or Type 3 (electrodeposited zinc), as applicable. If the manufacturer's catalogue number marked on the product would readily lead the user to the required information published by the manufacturer, this marking is not mandatory;

e) a warning label that reads, WARNING! DO NOT USE AS A WALKWAY, LADDER, OR SUPPORT FOR PERSONNEL and AVERTISSEMENT ! NE PAS UTILISER COMME PASSERELLE, ECHELLE OU SUPPORT POUR LE PERSONNEL;

f) the design drawing number for the specific installation;

g) the rated load/span

h) the following optional marking:

  1. Class A cablebus – enclosure designed to provide protection from contact with conductors;
    1.  CAUTION: THE FIRESTOP PROVIDED WITH THIS CABLEBUS WAS NOT EVALUATED AS PART OF THE CABLEBUS APPROVAL and ATTENTION : LE COUPE-FEU QUI EQUIPE CE CABLE DE LIAISON N'A PAS ETE EVALUE DANS LE CADRE DE L'APPROBATION DU CABLE DE LIAISON ;
    2.  "cablebus enclosure has been tested as a system bond conductor" or equivalent wording;
    3.  short circuit rating based on XX cycle time;
    4.  suitable for use in a sprinklered equipment environment; and
    5.  tamper-resistant

Each fitting and straight section shall be legibly and permanently marked with:

a) the manufacturer's name, trademark, or other descriptive marking by which the organization responsible for the product can be identified;

b) the catalog number, identification number, or equivalent; and

c) suitable for use in a sprinklered equipment environment (optional marking).

If the short circuit current rating of a cablebus is dependent upon the use of a specific overcurrent device ahead of the cablebus, the cablebus shall be marked:

  1. When protected by XX ampere maximum Class XX fuse or Type XX circuit breaker rated not more than XX amperes this cablebus is rated for use on a circuit capable of delivering not more than XX RMS symmetrical amperes XX volts maximum.
  2.  The second blank space shall be filled with the fuse designation (G, J, L, RK1, RK5, or T).
  3.  The third blank space shall be filled with the name of the circuit breaker manufacturer and the type designation.
  4.  The value of amperes shall correspond to the symmetrical values given

If the ampacity of a neutral conductor is less than fully rated, the rating shall include the reduced neutral ampacity.

  • A cablebus shall be marked with the maximum ampere rating of the overcurrent protective device to be used on the line side of the cablebus if the cross-sectional area of the bond conductor or enclosure material is sized in accordance with Table 3.

Cablebus systems shall be permanently marked with the following or equivalent wording:

"WARNING: IF THE CABLEBUS SYSTEM HAS BEEN EXPOSED TO A SHORT CIRCUIT THAT HAS OPERATED THE OVERCURRENT DEVICE FOR THE CABLEBUS, THE CABLEBUS SHOULD BE EXAMINED AND REPLACED IF DAMAGED" and "AVERTISSEMENT : SI LE CABLE DE LIAISON A ETE SOUMIS A UN COURT CIRCUIT QUI A DECLENCHE SON DISPOSITIF DE PROTECTION CONTRE LES SURINTENSITES, IL DEVRAIT ETRE EXAMINE ET REMPLACE AU BESOIN."
