COVERAGE:

Factory installed components and sub-assemblies of industrial control equipment which have no inherent
independent use, but which form a part of a complete product, and for which construction
and/or test requirements exist in CSA Industrial Control Equipment (and related)
Standards.

Examples of components and sub-assemblies for which this
programme is intended include the following: gasket materials intended for use
in electrical enclosures, enclosure parts (frame, cover, door, fastener,
interlock components, etc), pre-designed bus assemblies, motor starting
resistors and braking resistors rated not more than 1500V.

Note 1: This category does not include kits that are certified for use with
specific enclosures. See class 3211-02. This category does not include enclosure
components which are not certified for use with specific enclosures and subject
to evaluation in the end product. See class 3211-07.

Note 2: These components and sub-assemblies are investigated for use only as
components of electrical and electronic equipment where the acceptability of the
final assembly is to be determined. Other conditions of acceptability applicable
to specific products are detailed in the individual manufacturer s
certification record

MARKING:

All marking required by CSA must be permanent, legible and located on the
component/sub-assembly or the smallest packaging and will include:

  • submittor's identification (Company Name, CSA Registered Trademark or CSA file
    number);
  • model designation or part number or equivalent;
  • additional markings as may be required by the applicable Standards and Notices; and
  • CSA Component Acceptance Mark with the Component Acceptance (Triangle) Indicator.

Additional marking requirements for motor starting
resistors and braking resistors shall include:

  • Maximum voltage, total resistance, duty cycle,
    and ampere capacity of the first step and the ampere capacity of the last step;
  • The temperature rating for the field-installed
    conductors for which the unit has been investigated;
  • FOR USE AS SERIES RESISTOR (as applicable); and
  • WARNING: WHEN MOUNTING ON OR OVER A COMBUSTIBLE
    SURFACE, A FLOOR PLATE OF AT LEAST 1.43 mm GALVANIZED OR 1.6 mm UNCOATED STEEL
    EXTENDED AT LEAST 150 mm BEYOND THE EQUIPMENT ON ALL SIDES MUST BE INSTALLED (as
    applicable).
