CSA International, in co-operation with CFM Keanall of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, is announcing a voluntary retrofit to its Great Outdoor Gas Grills (Life @ Home model). In some instances because of certain wind conditions, overheating or flashbacks can occur under the control panel of the grill, which may result in possible flames under the control panel. Flames could damage the hose that supplies gas to the burner, causing an uncontrolled flame. Also flames could come in contact with user’s hands, resulting in burns.
CFM Keanall has received six incident reports. Neither CSA International nor CFM Keanall has received any reports of injury or property damage.
The affected grills have the words “Life @ Home” on the control panel. Only model number GL450SKP are included in this retrofit. The model numbers can be found on the CSA approval sticker on the back of the front panel. These grills are 36,000 BTU 450 square inch grills.
The following stores sold these gas grills from February 1, 2003 for $199.00: Loblaws, Fortino’s, Real Canadian Superstores, Zehrs, No Frills, Atlantic Superstores, Your Independent Grocer.
Consumers should stop using these gas grills immediately and contact CFM Keanall toll-free at 1-888-532-6255 Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM and 7:00 PM to receive a free retrofit kit.
