CSA Group Issues HAZLOC Certification to FCG Control Gear India to Help Ensure Product Safety, Reliability and Performance

Reinforces Commitment to Help Clients Across Asia with Workplace Safety

CSA Group,  a leading standards development organization and a global provider of testing and certification services, announced today that it has issued a C-US  Hazloc certification  to FCG Flameproof Control Gears Pvt Ltd, a leading manufacturer of explosion-protected equipment in India. This is the first HAZLOC certification issued through CSA Group’s recently set-up, highly specialized testing and certification laboratory in India.

Hazardous locations (Hazloc) refer to places where flammable gas, vapour or mist hazards may arise or where explosive dust atmospheres and combustible dust layers are present. Equipment used in such areas must be designed to prevent the generation of sparks, flames, electric arcs, high surface temperatures, acoustic energy, optical radiation and electromagnetic waves that may ignite explosive atmospheres.

FCG Flameproof Control Gears Pvt Ltd has also been certified to IECEx certification and issued IECEx Test Reports (ExTR) for compliance; a mandatory requirement under International Electro-technical Commission Explosive Scheme (IECEx) for electrical equipment used in hazardous locations around the world. Additionally, FCG Control Gears has also been issued an EC Type Examination certificate (by CSA Group Testing UK) for ATEX, a mandatory requirement under ATEX directive 94/9/EC for hazardous locations products used in the European Union market.

Commenting on the certification, Saibal Mukhopadhaya, CSA Group Country Manager, India, stated, “This is a momentous occasion for our Bangalore laboratory. This is the first HAZLOC certification issued through  our new facility in India. Today, the energy, and oil and gas sectors in India are witnessing rapid growth, and Indian Hazardous Locations equipment manufacturers are increasingly looking at exporting products to international markets. There is an increasing need for testing and certification services in this growing industry. CSA Group also provides testing service under the ATEX Directive Certification, also known as European Directive 94/9/EC, which ensures the free movement of goods throughout the European Union by harmonizing compliance procedures.
