A cover page of the CSA Z2004 Public Review What We Heard ReportMental health and well-being are integral to a good quality of life for all Canadians, including residents in long-term care (LTC) and assisted living (AL) settings. A new standard CSA Z2004, Mental health and well-being in long-term care and assisted living settings, aims to help create the conditions that support mental health needs of residents living in these settings.

The CSA Z2004 draft standard was available for public review from September 18 to November 17, 2023. CSA Group also organized a series of consultation and public review information sessions. These sessions engaged workers, management, residents, families, and care partners, Indigenous community members, and younger residents, and were aimed at collecting feedback to further inform the content of the CSA Z2004 standard. This report summarizes what we heard during the public review process.
