In cooperation with CSA International, Coleman Canada, a division of Sunbeam Corporation (Canada) Limited is voluntarily recalling regulator assemblies on approximately 140 Coleman® Model 5400, 6000, 7700 Gas Grills and on approximately 125 Coleman® Model 5040 Patio Heaters in Canada. The regulator assemblies on these products can leak propane gas when the products are not in operation, but when the propane cylinder is still turned on. This can pose a fire hazard for consumers.
The Coleman Company, Inc. has received 98 reports in the US of these regulator assemblies leaking propane. Coleman has received no reports of injury or property damage. Coleman has not received any reports of regulators leaking propane in Canada.
The products with these regulator assemblies were sold by various pool and patio retailers across Canada from February 2005 through July 2005. The grills were priced between $700 and $1,260 and the patio heaters were priced between $500 and $600.
Consumers should stop using the affected grills and heaters immediately and contact Coleman for a free replacement regulator assembly. Once the regulator is replaced in accordance with the instructions that will be provided with the replacement regulator, the grill or heater may be used.
Consumers may call The Coleman Company, Inc, customer service centre toll-free at 1-866-584-8587, or for more information, consumers can log on to the website at www.coleman.com .
