Course Overview
This course is part of the CSA Group Modular Online Training Program. This online course provides an overview of Section 18 + J in the 2024 Canadian Electrical Code, Part I. Rather than reviewing the Code in its entirety, this course is designed to provide an overview of Section 18 + J of the CE Code.
Section 18 provides the Rules used to classify a hazardous location based on the degree of hazard in the location; these Rules can modify or supplement the general Rules of the Code.
The training for this section also covers material from Appendix J (Rules and Notes for Hazardous locations).
A certificate of achievement is provided upon completion of the course.
For nearly 90 years, the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I has been and continues to be a comprehensive model Code that provides guidance to help make electrical installations and equipment safer.

- Identify where to locate Zone system requirements in the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I.
- Interpret the markings on electrical equipment.
- Describe installation requirements in hazardous locations.
