Course Overview
This course is part of the CSA Group Modular Online Training Program. This online course provides an overview of Section 24 in the 2021 Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1. Rather than reviewing the Code in its entirety, this course is designed to provide an overview of Section 24 of the CE Code.
Section 24 includes additional and specific requirements for the installation of electrical equipment in patient care areas of health care facilities and for the installation of essential electrical systems in health care facilities.
A certificate of achievement is provided upon completion of the course.
For nearly 90 years, the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I has been and continues to be a comprehensive model Code that provides guidance to help make electrical installations and equipment safer.
Learning Objectives
After taking this course, you will be able to:
- Define the special terminology for patient care areas.
- Identify the types of electrical equipment that need to be installed according to Rule 24-100.
- List the requirements for receptacles in basic care areas.
- Describe the requirements for intermediate and critical care areas.
- Recognize the three-phase isolated circuit conductors as Phase A, B, or C depending on its colour.

All professionals, apprentices and students in the electrical industry.
