Preface
This is the first edition of CSA EXP 150.2, Guidelines for connected and automated vehicles: Physical infrastructure. This Express Document is not a consensus product; that is, it is not a Standard and it has not been formally reviewed or approved by a CSA Technical Committee.
This Express Document was prepared by the Working Group on EXP 150.2 and reviewed by external subject matter experts as part of the public review process.
Scope
1.1 Inclusions
This Document covers several aspects of physical infrastructure, including the structural requirements for pavements and bridges, the quality and uniformity of TCD, and the changing demands of ITS devices with respect to adding new field equipment to facilitate vehicle-to-infrastructure communication. As such, the physical infrastructure to be covered in this Document can be categorized as
a) hard infrastructure (e.g., pavements and bridges);
b) TCDs; and
c) field equipment to support vehicle-to-infrastructure communication.
1.2 Terminology
This Document contains no requirements. In this Document, should is used to express a recommendation or that which is advised but not required and may is used to express an option or that which is permissible within the limits of the Document.
1.3 Units of measure
The values given in SI units are the units of record for the purposes of these Guidelines. The values given in parentheses are for information and comparison only.
