1.1 This Standard outlines requirements for fall-arresting devices , personnel lowering devices, and life lines.
1.2 The equipment specified in this Standard is intended primarily for use by workers in the construction and mining industries, but can also be used in certain other industries where there is a danger of a fall from a height.
1.3 Products which comply with these requirements shall not be acceptable if, when examined and tested, they are found to have features that reduce the degree of protection provided by the Standard.
1.4 Metric units of measurement in this Standard are in accordance with the International System of Units (SI). If a value for measurement as given in this Standard is followed by an equivalent value in other units, the first stated is to be regarded as the requirement. A given equivalent value may be approximate.
