CSA Preface
Standards development within the Information Technology sector is harmonized with international standards development. Through the CSA Technical Committee on Information Technology (TCIT), Canadians serve as the SCC Mirror Committee (SMC) on ISO/IEC Joint Technical Committee 1 on Information Technology (ISO/IEC JTC1) for the Standards Council of Canada (SCC), the ISO member body for Canada and sponsor of the Canadian National Committee of the IEC.
For brevity, this Standard will be referred to as CSA ISO/IEC 15961-1 throughout.
This Standard supersedes CSA ISO/IEC 15961-1:20 (adopted ISO/IEC 15961-1:2013).
The International Standard was reviewed by the CSA TCIT under the jurisdiction of the CSA Strategic Steering Committee on Information and Communications Technology and deemed acceptable for use in Canada. This Standard has been formally approved, without modification, by the Technical Committee and has been developed in compliance with Standards Council of Canada requirements for National Standards of Canada. It has been published as a National Standard of Canada by CSA Group.
Scope
This document focuses on the abstract interface between an application and the data processor and includes the specification and definition of application commands and responses. It allows data and commands to be specified in a standardised way, independent of the ISO/IEC 18000 series air interfaces.
This document:
— provides guidelines on presenting data as objects;
— defines the structure of Object Identifiers, based on ISO/IEC 9834-1;
— specifies the commands that are supported for transferring data between an application and the radio frequency identification (RFID) tag;
— specifies the responses that are supported for transferring data between the tag and the application;
— does not specify any required transfer syntax with ISO/IEC 15962, but provides the non-normative information in Annex A for backward compatibility with the 2004 version of this document (ISO/IEC 15961:20041)).
