Preface
This is the first edition of CSA EXP150.3, Guidelines for connected and automated vehicles: Cybersecurity, privacy, and data management. This Express Document is not a consensus product; that is, it is not a Standard and it has not been formally reviewed or approved by a CSA Technical Committee.
This Express Document was prepared by the Working Group on EXP 150.3 and reviewed by external subject matter experts as part of the public review process.
Scope
1.1 Inclusions
This Document includes guidance for CAVs operating or intended to operate on municipal roads, provincial open-access highways, provincial closed-access highways, and ETRs. This Document applies to CAV road users operating within this environment, including commercial vehicles, transit vehicles, private passenger vehicles (including but not limited to personal, car-pooling, ride-sharing or carsharing/rental vehicles), and VRUs (including, but not limited to, pedestrians with/without accessibility equipment, appliances, and/or smart mobility and micro-mobility vehicles).
This Document is intended to primarily address issues related to security, privacy, and public safety in conjunction with detailed knowledge of the legal, regulatory, and technological landscape, and ensuring compliance with all relevant and applicable law.
1.2 Exclusions
This Document does not apply to CAV infrastructure elements such as RSU, micro/macro cells, and electric vehicle charging grids.
1.3 Terminology
This Document contains no requirements. In this Document, should is used to express a recommendation or that which is advised but not required and may is used to express an option or that which is permissible within the limits of the Document.
1.4 Units of measure
The values given in SI units are the units of record for the purposes of this Standard. The values given in parentheses are for information and comparison only.
