Head injuries are involved in a significant portion of skiing deaths, as well as lifelong consequences for some survivors. Ski helmets are critical to saving lives and preventing such devastating injuries. CAN/CSA Z263.1 Recreational Alpine Skiing and Snowboarding Helmets defines areas of the head that are to be protected by a helmet from impact injuries. Reaffirmed in 2013, the standard remains a valuable resource for helping to prevent injuries on the slopes.
