This is the first edition of CSA Z262.8, Face protectors for use in lacrosse. This Standard was prepared at the request of the Canadian Lacrosse Association. The companion document to this Standard is CSA Z262.1.
Scope
1.1 This Standard specifies performance requirements and test methods for face protectors marketed, sold, and intended for box lacrosse and men's field lacrosse.
Notes: (1) The intent of this Standard is to reduce the risk of injury to the face without compromising the form or appeal of the game. This reduction of risk is based on the use of the face protector
(a) as intended within the rules of the game; and (b) in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
(2) Lacrosse is a sport in which hazards are intrinsic to the normal conduct of the game. Participation in lacrosse implies the acceptance of some risk of injury. Use of a face protector meeting the requirements of this Standard will not prevent all injuries.
