This Standard specifies the Software Quality Assurance Program requirements to be planned, developed, implemented, and maintained in order to assure that software to be developed for critical applications conforms to customer requirements.
1.2 Applicability
This Standard applies to the design and to the development or acquisition of software for critical applications, when specified by contract or purchase order, up to and including the point of customer acceptance, and may be extended through the product support phase if appropriate. However, in the absence of a contract, the appropriate requirements of this Standard may be voluntarily applied to establish and maintain an effective Software Quality Assurance Program, and may be extended through the product support phase if appropriate.
For Quality Assurance Program requirements applicable to hardware refer to the CSA CAN3-Z299 Series of Standards.
