This technical report contains guidelines regarding the safe and effective operation and maintenance on CARDIAC DEFIBRILLATORS, as defined in clause 3 below, to be performed by medical and nursing personnel. This report does not apply to automatic implantable DEFIBRILLATORS and automatic external DEFIBRILLATORS.
The application guidelines in this report deal with the safe operation and maintenance of CARDIAC DEFIBRILLATORS constructed according to the safety requirements of IEC 601-1 and 601-2-4.
Not all the existing CARDIAC DEFIBRILLATORS meet the minimum r equirements of current international standards, however, the guidelines in this report will still be helpful in utilizing these devices. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Le présent rapport technique contient des directives pour assurer de façon sûre et efficace les opérations de fonctionnement et de maintenance des DEFIBRILLATEURS CARDIAQUES tels que définis à l'article 3 ci-après, devant être effectuées par le personnel médical et infirmier. Ce rapport ne s'applique pas aux DEFIBRILLATEURS implantables automatiques ni aux DEFIBRILLATEURS externes automatiques.
Les directives d'application contenues dans le présent rapport traitent du fonctionnement et de la maintenance de façon sûre des DEFIBRILLATEURS CARDIAQUES construits conformément aux prescript ions de sécurité des CEI 601-1 et 601-2-4.
Tous les DEFIBRILLATEURS CARDIAQUES existants ne respectent pas les prescriptions minimales des normes internationales actuelles, toutefois les directives contenues dans le présent rapport rendront toujours service lors de l'utilisation de ces dispositifs.
