1.1 This Standard provides minimum performance criteria for factory-assembled unitary heat pumps, single-package or matching assemblies, that are intended for application in open system and closed-loop ground-source heat pump systems. This Standard covers equipment that has a cooling capacity of up to 40 kW (135 000 Btu/h) at standard rating conditions, or in the case of heating-only heat pumps, a heating capacity of up to 40 kW at standard rating conditions.
1.2 Within the scope of this Standard, unitary heat pumps are classified as factory-assembled, single-package, or split system(s) with
(a) air or water (ie, hydronic) as the energy sink on heating and the energy source on cooling; and (b) water or liquid as the energy source on heating and the energy sink on cooling.
1.3 This Standard applies only to electrically driven, mechani cal, vapour-compression-type systems charged with one of the refrigerants listed in Group A1 of CSA Standard B52.
1.4 The values given in SI (metric) units are the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.
