1.1 This Standard applies to enclosed airbreak switches for use in nonhazardous locations, in accordance with the Rules of the Canadian Electrical Code, Pazt 2, that have all current-carrying parts enclosed and are manually operable by means of external handles, and with maximum ratings of 1200 A or less at 600 V or less.
1.2 This Standard does not apply to
(a) snap and tumbler switches; (b) circuit breakers, moulded case switches, and magnetic only circuit interrupters; (c) switches having features (other than fuses) intended for the starting and protection of motors; (d) switches with automatic trips affording protection for equipment where no circuit breakers or fuses are used; (e) switches that have enclosed with them fuse terminals for more than four branch circuits;* (f) devices in which the pulling of fuses or the removal of a pull-out member is designed to accomplish a switching operation; {g) door-operated switches. *A meter loop is not counted as a hranch circuit.
