Preface
This is the second edition of CSA Standard CAN/CSA-A247, Insulating Fibreboard, and is written in SI (metric) units. It supersedes the first SI edition, published in 1978, which superseded the following CSA Standards: A247-1969, Fibreboard Roof Insulation; A247.2-1969, Insulating Fibreboard Sheathing; and A247.3-1969, Fibreboard Used in Inter Application.
This Standard deals with all products as described in the first edition and also includes drop-in backerboard. This edition differs from the first edition chiefly by the addition of the backerboard category, a new requirement for tensile strength perpendicular to the surface, and modifications to the transverse load at rupture and the tensile strength parallel to the surface.
This Standard was prepared by the Technical Committee on Insulating Fibreboard under the jurisdiction of the Standards Steering Committee on Building Materials and Products and was formally approved by these Committees. It has been approved as a National Standard of Canada by the Standards Council of Canada.
Scope
