Preface
This new edition of CSA Standard C300, Capacity Measurement and Energy Consumption Test Methods for Household Refrigerators and Combination Refrigerator—Freezers, supersedes the preliminary edition published March, 1977. Several changes have been made to the test procedures as a result of experience gained in the use of the Preliminary Standard. A Clause has been added prescribing a sampling plan.
This Standard is based to a substantial extent on methods developed by the American Society of Heating and Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers and published as ANSI Standard B38.1—1970, and on specific technical contributions from a technical committee of the Canadian Appliance Manufacturers Association and a corresponding committee of the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers.
Scope and Purpose
1.1
The purpose of this Standard is to specify methods to be used in measuring the capacity and energy consumption and testing the performance of electrically operated household refrigerators and combination refrigerator—freezers in support of a consumer Informative labelling program.
1.2
This Standard includes methods for measuring the capacity and methods for testing electrically operated refrigerators designed for a 60—Hz alternating-current supply with a nominal system voltage of 120 V.
1.3
The requirements in this Standard are not applicable to electrically operated refrigerators employing an absorption refrigeration system.
1.4
This Standard includes both inch/pound and SI units; either may be used (see Clause 8).
