Preface
This is the second edition of No. 0.3 of a series of Standards issued by the Canadian Standards Association under Part II of the Canadian Electrical Code. It supersedes the previous edition published in 1971.
This edition includes the following:
(a) The incorporation of published revisions (1—41);
(b) The addition of the burning particles (dropping) test in Clause 4.11.3;
(c) The change to 6 hours in the time of immersion in water for the dielectric strength test in Clause 4.28.l2(a);
(d) The change in Clause 4.28.2.l.6, Temperature Correction Factor, to include also reference to 15°C;
(e) The deletion of “preferably of l4 AWG solid wire with a 3/64 inch wall of insulation” from Clause 4.28.2. I .7(a) to allow the use of any size of thickness that is convenient to test and consistent with the
product design being considered;
(f) The addition of Clause 4.28.2.l.8 to cover a method for determination of coefficient for 1°C.
Changes in Clauses from the previous edition and the published revisions are indicated by a vertical line in the margin of the Clause. Editorial changes such as the renumbering or relocation of a Clause are not marked.
This Standard was prepared under the jurisdiction of the Committee on CE Code, Part II, which is subsidiary to the Committee on CE Code, Part I, and was formally approved by these Committees.
Scope

This Standard describes the apparatus, test methods, and formulae to be used in carrying out the tests and calculations required by the various Electrical Wire and Cable Standards of Part II of the Canadian Electrical Code.
