Preface

This is the common CSA and UL Standard for Household Dishwashers. It is the fifth edition of CSA C22.2 No. 167 and the eighth edition of UL 749. This edition of CSA C22.2 No. 167 supersedes the previous editions published in 1997, 1995, 1990, and 1979. This edition of UL 749 supersedes the previous edition published in 1997.

Scope

1.1 This Standard applies to electric household dishwashers intended to be used in nonhazardous locations in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), Part I, C22.1, in Canada, and the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70, in the United States, on circuits having a nominal voltage not exceeding 250 V.

1.2 This Standard applies to both CORD-CONNECTED APPLIANCES and PERMANENTLY-CONNECTED APPLIANCES.

1.3 This Standard does not apply to commercial appliances. Commercial appliances are covered under the scope of ANSI Z83.21/CSA C22.2 No. 168 or UL 921.
