Clause 1, Conceptual Overview, of this handbook describes some of the basic concepts that will help readers understand what is needed to combine their ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:1996 management systems.
Clause 2, The Benefits of Combining ISO 9001:2001 and ISO 14001:1996, outlines some of the potential benefits an organization can reap from combining these two management systems.
Clause 3, The Implementation Path, provides guidelines that an organization can follow to ensure effective implementation.
Clause 4, Some General Comparisons between Quality and Environmental Management Systems, gives the reader an idea of some of the similarities and differences between ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:1996, including a comparison of the basic evolution and the format of the documents.
Clause 5, Combining the Clauses of ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:1996, is made up of many subclauses that reprint the actual texts of ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:1996. The shared characteristics and differentiating characteristics of the two documents are outlined. The compatibility of the clauses under review is rated. Appendix A reprints Annex A of ISO 9001:2000, Correspondence between ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14001:1996.
