Product Details
Course Overview
This course is part of the CSA Group Modular Online Training Program. This online course provides an overview of Section 4 in the 2024 Canadian Electrical Code, Part I. Rather than reviewing the Code in its entirety, this course is designed to provide an overview of Section 4 of the CE Code.
Section 4 is a general Section of the Code that sets out requirements for conductors used in ac and dc systems supplying power, lighting, and equipment such as appliances. Wire and cable, flexible cords, portable power cables, and equipment wire are examples of such conductors.
Neutral conductors used in services, feeders, and branch circuits are also covered by Section 4. The requirements of Section 4 apply unless specifically modified or amended in a subsequent Section of the Code.
This Section applies to conductors used in the categories of Wire and Cable, Flexible Cords, Equipment Wire, Neutral Conductors and Portable Power Cables in used electrical installations. Section 4 covers items such as ampacity ratings, condition of use, colour coding, insulation types.
For nearly 90 years, the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I has been and continues to be a comprehensive model Code that provides guidance to help make electrical installations and equipment safer.
