Standards in the information technology sector are harmonized with International Standards. On behalf of the Standards Council of Canada (SCC), an ISO member organization and sponsor of the IEC National Committee of Canada, the CSA Technical Committee on Information Technology (ITTC) represents the Canadian Advisory Committee (CAC) in Canada. ISO / IEC Joint Technical Committee 1 on Information Technology (ISO / IEC JTC1). In addition, as a member of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Canada is part of the International Telegraph and Telephone Consultative Committee (CCITT).
For the sake of brevity, throughout this document, it will be called CAN / CSA-ISO / IEC 27000.

This International Standard describes an overview and vocabulary of information security management systems, which form the subject of the WSIS family of standards, and defines the terms and definitions relate to it.
This International Standard is applicable to all types and sizes of organizations (eg commercial enterprises, public organizations, non-profit organizations).
