Preface
This is the second edtion of CSA Standard Z185. It supersedes the first edition which was published in 1972 as Z185, Safety Code for Workmen's Hoists, Tower and Cantilever Types.
Scope
1.1 This Code applies to the design, construction, installation, operation, inspection, testing, maintenance, alterations, and repair of structures and hoists, which are not a permanent part of the buildings, installed inside or outside buildings during construction, alteration or demolition and used to raise and lower persons connected with or related to the building project. The hoist may also be used for transportation of materials.
