Preface
This fourth edition of CSA Standard B137.3 (now CAN3-B137.3), Rigid Poly (Vinyl Chloride) (PVC) Pipe for Pressure Applications, supersedes previous editions published in 1972 and 1981.
Scope
1.1
This Standard covers rigid poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) pipe and fittings intended for use in pressure applications such as water mains, water service piping, process piping, etc. Nominal pipe and fitting sizes included are NPS-1/8 through NPS-36. Included are moulded Schedule 40 and 80 and fabricated type fittings.
Note: If PVC pipe and fittings are to be used in other than water applications,the manufacturer should be consulted.
1.2
This Standard includes requirements for materials, workmanship, dimensions, solvent cement, and methods of marking for pipe and fittings. In addition, there are requirements for hydrostatic sustained pressure, impact, and extrusion quality for pipe.
