Preface
This is the first edition of CSA Standard Z259.12, Connecting Components for Personal Fall Arrest Systems (PFAS). It is part of a series of Standards for components of personal fall arrest systems. This Standard provides performance requirements, test methods, and requirements for marking and labelling individual components used as part of a personal fall arrest system.
Connecting components are classified into two categories. Class I connectors are intended for fall arrest. They may
(a) be an integral part of an approved subsystem; or
(b) be provided separately to connect subsystems together and/or be connected to an anchorage or anchorage connector.
Class II connectors are other connecting elements provided as an integral part of an approved subsystem. Unlike Class I connectors, Class II connectors may be made by such means of manufacture as stitching, rope splicing, swaging, and heat fusion.
This Standard has been developed in compliance with Standards Council of Canada requirements for National Standards of Canada. It has been published as a National Standard of Canada by CSA Group.

(b) intended to be used as the primary single link to a permanent anchorage connector; and
(c) intended to be used as a primary attachment point between two or more subsystems, as described and certified under other Standards related to PFAS.
