SCOPE
1.1 This Code applies to
(a) the storage, handling, transportation, and transfer of propane;
(b) the installation of appliances, equipment, components, accessories
and containers when propane Is to be used for fuel purposes;
(c) the installation of containers and equipment to be used for propanein distribution locations, filling plants, and on tank trucks, tanktrailers, and cargo liners; and
(d) the installation of propane fuel systems and tanks on highway vehicles for the provision of motive power, except when a motor vehicle
manufacturer elects to install a propane fuel system in accordance with the Canadian Federal Government Standard MVSS301.
1.2 This Code does not apply to
(a) marine or pipeline terminals;
(b) petroleum refineries;
(c) propane when used as a feedstock in chemical plants;
(d) utility pipeline distribution and transmission pipelines;
(e) refrigerated storage or underground reservoirs for propane; and
(f) propane used on boats.
1.3 Where the term propane. is used, the requirements of this Codeshall apply equally to and include any material which is composed
predomlnantty of any of the following hydrocarbons, or mixtures of them: propane, propylene, butanes (normal butane or isobutane) and butylenes.
1.4 For the purpose of this Code. the requirements contained in CAN/CGSB-3.14, Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Propane). or
CANlCGSB-3.13, Gas, Petroleum, Liquefied, Butane. shall be met.
