This standard applies to newly produced gas appliance connectors constructed entirely of new unused parts and materials that:
(a) Are intended for use with gas-fired commercial cooking equipment that may be mounted on casters or otherwise be subject to movement for cleaning, and with other large and heavy gas-fired equipment that may be moved;
(b) Are for use on piping systems having fuel gas pressures not in excess of 1/2 pound per square inch (3.5 kPa);
(c) Are of 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8, 3/4, 1, 1¼ and 1½ inch nominal internal diameters;
(d) Are of not more than 6 feet (1.83 m) nominal length; and
(e) Have fittings at each end provided with standard taper pipe threads for connection to gas appliances and to gas supply piping.
Connectors complying with this standard are considered suitable for use with natural, manufactured, mixed and liquefied petroleum gases and LP gas-air mixtures.
If a value for measurement as given in this standard is followed by an equivalent value in other units, the first stated value is to be regarded as the specification.
All references to psi throughout this standard are to be considered gauge pressure unless otherwise specified.
Exhibit A contains provisions that are unique to Canada.
