Update #2 was published as notification that this is now a national standard of Canada.
Scope
1.1
This Standard addresses unreinforced concrete construction of housing and small buildings, as covered in Part 9 of the National Building Code of Canada (NBCC), as well as other concrete work, such as slabs on ground, driveways, walkways, patios, steps, and parking areas.
Note: Construction that contains nominal reinforcement provided solely for crack control purposes is considered to fall within the scope of this Standard.
1.2
Requirements for uses other than those described in Clause 1.1, or for cases where the construction is designed to strength, are provided by CSA Standards A23.1 and A23.3.
1.3
Any requirements for excavation, drainage, and the design of footings and foundations that are not provided by this Standard are provided by the applicable building code.
