Scope
1.1 This Standard applies to the measurement of the concentration of carbon monoxide in samples taken from ambient ai r, enclosed gas streams, and gases under pressure.
1.2 This Standard sets forth the following two applicable procedures for the measurement of the concentration of carbon monoxide:
(a) Non-dispersive Infrared Spectrometry, which is intended for use where concentrations of carbon monoxide are above 6 mg·m-3 at 25°C and 101.3 kPa (approximately 5 ppm) or where a high degree of accuracy is not required below that concentration (see Clause 3); and
(b) Gas Chromatography, which is intended primarily for use where accurate measurement of carbon monoxide is required at concentrations below 6 mg·m-3 at 25°C and 101.3 kPa (see Clause 4).
Note. All concentrations referred to throughout this Standard are based on a temperature of 25°C and an atmospheric pressure of 101.3 kPa unless otherwise stated.
