1. Scope
1.1 This Standard applies to the commissioning of medical gas systems in health care facilities. It is a companion document to the other Standards in the CSA Z318 Series of Standards.
1.2 This Standard is intended to assist the commissioning team in providing proper direction for the installation of medical gas systems. This Standard provides for commissioning of medical gas sys tems within health care facilities, including but not limited to the following:
(a) Preparation of a commissioning plan that defines the commissioning requirements and coordination of newly installed or renovated medical gas systems, including
(i) the human and financial resources required to accomplish commissioning of the medical gas system;
(ii) the responsibilities of the commissioning team; and
(iii) the timing and integration of the commissioning process; and
(b) Documentation of design and owner intent, including design criteria, to meet the facility occupancy requirements. This information will be used and may be amended by the commissioning team during the commissioning process.
1.3 Limitations
This Standard does not cover utilization medical gas equipment (eg, flow meters, regulators, ventilators, etc) on the premises of a health care facility.
