Preface
This is the first edition of No. 105 of a series of Approvals Specifications issued by the Association under Part II of the Canadian Electrical Code.
This Specification was approved by letter ballot by the Committee on CE Code, Part II, in January,. 1953, by the Committee on CE Code. Part I, in May, 1953, and by the Technical Council in September, 1953.
Scope
This Specification applies to electrical equipment used on, or in close connection with, woodworking* machinery for use in industrial applications and designed to be installed and employed in accordance with the rules of Part I of this Code.
It does not apply to
(a) small machines of the hobby type intended for use only in domestic or similar occupancies;
(b) miscellaneous portable tools such as saws, drills, sanders, etc., which are within the scope of the latest issue of CSA Specification C22.2 No. 71, Portable Electric Tools; and
(c) electrical equipment which, while intended for use in connection with woodworking machinery, is located or housed (as in dust-free rooms) where it will not be affected by dust or wood chips, and which complies with the requisite requirements of Part I of this Code.
*Machines used for working both wood and metal are required to comply with this Specification and also with the latest issue of CSA Specification No. C22.2 No. 73, Electrically-equipped Machine Tools.
