Learning Objectives
After taking this course, participants will obtain a better understanding of the following areas:

  • Metallic Enclosures: Understand the specifications and considerations related to metallic enclosures used in hazardous environments.
  • Non-Metallic Enclosures and Parts: Understand the requirements of non-metallic enclosures.
  • Fasteners and Special Fasteners: Learn about the selection and application of fasteners used in explosionproof equipment.
  • Ring Grooves and Gaskets: Gain insights into the use of O-ring grooves and gaskets and the requirements when they are used in an explosionproof joint.
  • Bolts in Explosion-Proof Joints: Understand the requirements for bolts used in explosionproof joints.
  • Surface Roughness of Non-Threaded Joints: Explore surface roughness requirements for non-threaded joints.
  • Threaded Joints (NPT): Learn about threaded joints using National Pipe Thread (NPT) standards.
  • Threaded Joints (Parallel Threads): Understand parallel threaded joints.
  • Flat Joints: Explore flat joints and their requirements in explosionproof enclosures.
  • Cylindrical Joints: Gain knowledge about cylindrical joints and their design considerations.
  • Rabbet/Spigot Joints: Learn about rabbet and spigot joints used in explosionproof enclosures.
  • Operating Rods and Shafts: Understand the role of operating rods and shafts in hazardous location equipment.

Ideal Target Audience
