requirements of CSA A23.4 Standard. CSA prequalification program classifies
precast concrete products, fabricated in a prequalified plant, under one or more
of the precast concrete product group classification categories and
subcategories outlined in CSA A23.4 Standard.

NOTES:

    • Manufacturers may be prequalified in up to five of the product group
      classifications.
    • Prequalified plants are normally permanent facilities, but the
procedures also permit assessment of temporary or on-site operations.
    • CSA inspection/audit format for this prequalification program
utilizes a grading system, where a minimum passing grade is established
for each applicable division or clause (such as facility/personnel,
engineering, material, concrete production, quality control,
handling/storage, etc.) and applying a percentage weight to the given
grades. An overall plant score will be determined by compiling the score
for each applicable division or clause with the percentage weight
      stated.
    • To obtain and maintain CSA prequalification under this program, a
manufacturer shall receive a minimum overall plant score of 80% on their
audits/inspections and a minimum passing grade of 70% on each applicable
      division or clause.
    • Precast concrete elements manufactured in accordance with the
requirements of CSA A23.4 standard, by manufacturers who are
prequalified under this program, are considered certified and eligible
to bear the CSA certification mark
      .

The above Standard may also require the use of
associated Informs, Notices and/or Supplements due, for example, to new
requirements becoming effective after publication of the Standard.

    MANUFACTURING PLANT PREQUALIFICATION

Manufacturers who comply with the requirements of this
CSA Prequalification Program will be presented with a Certificate of
Qualification from CSA to indicate that the manufacturer has met CSA program
requirements and implemented a documented quality control system, as required by
this program, for the manufacturing processes involved in the manufacturing of
precast concrete elements in the categories and subcategories for which they are
    prequalified.

Certificates of Qualification are not transferrable,
either by personnel or plant, and remain in the ownership of CSA Group, and
shall be returned to CSA at any time upon written request by CSA. Certificates
of Qualification are valid for 2 years from the date of issue; a Certificate of
Qualification shall remain in effect for the 2 years expiry period unless its
return has been requested in writing by CSA.

    PRODUCT MARKING:

Individual pre-cast concrete elements shall be marked
with the following information, in a permanent manner, either on the product or
on a tag attached to the product, or on the documentation accompanying the
product (provided the latter is cross-referenced with the documentation), or by
any other means acceptable to CSA:

    1. manufacturer's name, trade name, trademark, or CSA file number;
    2. identification, as shown on the shop drawings;
    3. date of casting; and
    4. CSA Mark or the letters "CSA".

    Note: Certain jurisdictions in Canada
require the use of French language in markings; it is the responsibility of
the manufacturer to determine where this is required.
