REGULATORS (GAS) - Gas Appliance Pressure

COVERAGE:

Gas Pressure Regulators in this section are designed for application on individual gas
appliances. They are classified in accordance with their intended application with
reference to inlet pressure as follows: ? psig, 2 psig or 5 psig or special regulators at
inlet pressures in excess of 5 psig.

REQUIREMENTS:

ANSI Z21.18/CSA 6.3 Gas Appliance Pressure Regulators

Gas appliance pressure regulators bearing an encircled P symbol adjacent to the model
number are suitable for main burner and pilot load application and their minimum pilot
flow rate is 0.15 cu. ft. per hour.

For main burner and pilot load applications minimum rate is 120 Btu per hour.

Gas appliance pressure regulators should be selected, installed and used in accordance
with the manufacturers' specifications for pressure drop, regulation and load capacities,
mounting position and operating temperature range. Manufacturers' specified minimum
regulation capacities apply to normal appliance input ratings but not to modulated input
ratings.

Regulators shall be installed in accordance with local codes, or in the
absence of local codes, with the CSA B149.1. Regulators installed indoors shall
be vented or installed with a certified vent limiter, which is made of materials
having a melting point of not less than 800?F (427?C).

Sizes shown are for standard female tapered pipe threads unless otherwise indicated.
