This is the second edition of CSA Standard 294.3, Industrial Eye and Face Protectors. It supersedes the previous edition published in 1969, entitled Eye Protectors. (The first edition replaced the eye protector requirements given in CSA Standard 294-1948, Code for Head and Eye Protection.)
1.1 This Standard applies to eye and face protectors used in all occupational and educational operations or processes involving hazards to the eyes or face. Typical hazards include flying objects and particles, splashing liquids, molten metal, and ultra-violet, visible, and infra-red radiations, but do not include X-rays, gamma rays, high-energy particulate radiations, lasers, or masers.
Note: It is recommended that the guidelines for protection outlined in Appendix C be followed when similar potentially hazardous activities in the home, leisure, and recreational environments are engaged in. For certain sports activities, other Standards should be consulted, e.g., CSA Standards P400, Racquet Sports Eye Protection, and 2262.2, Face Protectors for Ice Hockey and Box Lacrosse Players.
