This is the first edition of CSA Special Publication PLUS 9015, Interpretations - CSA Sustainable Forestry Management Standards CAN/CSA-Z808-96 and CAN/CSA-Z809-96. It is a collection of interpretations developed by the CSA Technical Committee on Sustainable Forest Management.
CAN/CSA-Z808-96, A Sustainable Forest Management System: Guidance Document, and CAN/CSA-Z809-96, A Sustainable Forest Management System: Specifications document, set out the framework for designing, implementing, and registering a voluntary forestry management system that balances economic, social, and environmental needs. These two National Standards, developed by consensus, represent the concerns of a wide variety of stakeholders and interested parties. PLUS 9015 is one of several CSA information products that are related to sustainable forest management systems and, more generally, to environmental management.
The following interpretations have been drafted in response to questions and comments submitted by individuals and organizations that are planning or implementing SFM systems. They are intended to clarify terms and procedures.
The Technical Committee on Sustainable Forest Management supports these Standards on an ongoing basis. Information products, interpretations, updates, and revisions will continue to be made available, as appropriate to the needs of Canadian stakeholders.
For information about future interpretations and how to receive them, please ensure that you fill in and return the mailing card inside the front cover of this publication.
