Scope

1.1 This Standard covers three grades (42,50, and 55) of cold-formed welded or seamless hollow structural sections of round, rectangular, or special profile suitable for welded or bolted construction.

In welded construction, welding technique is important and it is necessary that welding procedures be suitable for the steel and the intended service.

Products manufactured to this Standard may not be suitable for those applications such as dynamically loaded elements in welded structures, etc., where low temperature notch toughness properties may be important. For suck applications the Producer should be consulted.
