Preface
This is the seventh edition of CSA B149.5, Installation code for propane fuel systems and containers on motor vehicles. It supersedes the previous editions published in 2020, 2015, 2010, 2005, and 2000 by CSA Group, and in 1995 by the Canadian Gas Association (CGA) as CAN/CGA-B149.5, under the title Installation code for propane fuel systems and tanks on highway vehicles.
The following are the major changes to this edition:
• Added subclause titles and figure captions for accessibility.
• Reorganized subclauses to align with parent clause.
• Updated definitions to align with the definitions in CSA B149.1, CSA B149.2, CSA B149.3, and CSA B51, where applicable.
• Clarified the use of the terms container, tank, and cylinder.
• Removed the use of the term mounted in favour of the more specific terms located, fastened, or installed.
• Removed the requirement for variable liquid-level gauges as these gauges are no longer in use.
• Removed the requirement for measuring the fuel pump heating as this requirement was not testable.
• Differentiated uses by adding propane-fuelled vehicle (Clause 5.13).

This Code was prepared by the Subcommittee on the Installation Code for Propane Fuel Systems and Containers on Motor Vehicles, under the jurisdiction of the Technical Committee on Autogas/DME Transportation and the Strategic Steering Committee on Transportation, and has been formally approved by the Technical Committee and the Interprovincial/Territorial Gas Advisory Council.
This Code has been developed in compliance with Standards Council of Canada requirements for National Standards of Canada. It has been published as a National Standard of Canada by CSA Group.
