Preface
This is the second edition of CSA Standard D113.1 (now CAN3—D113.1), Bicycles, covering general design, mechanical, and photometric requirements and tests for regular bicycles. It supersedes the first edition of D113.1, published in 1975, entitled Safety Standards for Regular Bicycles, and Supplement No.1 published in 1977.
This new edition differs from the previous edition and Supplement mainly as follows:
(a) Certain terminology changes to conform with ISO terminology;
(b) Clarification of the Scope;
(c) The Static Frame Test has been deleted;
(d) The Dynamometer Brake Test has been deleted; and
(e) Refinements of the testing procedures including different requirements for the wet brake test.
This Standard was prepared by the Technical Committee on Bicycles under the jurisdiction of the Standards Steering Committee on Sports and Recreational Equipment, and was formally approved by these Committees. It has been approved as a National Standard by the Standards Council of Canada.
