CSA Preface
This is the first edition of CAN/CSA-Z9360-2, Anaesthetic and respiratory equipment - Heat and moisture exchangers (HMEs) for humidifying respired gases in humans - Part 2: HMEs for use with tracheostomized patients having minimum tidal volumes of 250 mL, which is an adoption, with Canadian deviations, of the identically titled ISO (International Organization for Standardization) Standard 9360-2 (first edition, 2001-04-15).
This Standard was reviewed for Canadian adoption by the CSA Subcommittee on Respiratory Technology, under the jurisdiction of the Technical Committee on Anaesthetic Equipment, Respiratory Technology, and Critical Care Equipment and the Strategic Steering Committee on Health Care Technology, and has been formally approved by the Technical Committee. This Standard has been approved as a National Standard of Canada by the Standards Council of Canada.
Scope
This part of ISO 9360 is based on ISO 9360-1:2000 and specifies certain requirements and test methods for heat and moisture exchangers (HMEs) without machine connector ports, including those incorporating breathing system filters. These devices are intended for the humidification of respired gases for tracheostomized patients having a tidal volume of 250 ml or greater.
