1.1 This Standard covers mine hoisting, mine haulage, and ski- lift ropes, and ropes for general applications. It includes requirements for raw materials and construction features for round strand and flattened strand rope, and locked coil rope in bright and galvanized finish.
1.2 This Standard is not intended for use in the manufacture and purchase of aircraft cable, elevator rope, tiller rope, marlin-covered rope, marine or shipping ropes, bridge rope and strand, galvanized sash cord, zinc-coated strand, or galvanized guard rail cable.
