1.1 This Standard covers the design, installation, operation, maintenance, and testing of the equipment required to provide emergency electrical power to loads in buildings and facilities in the event that the normal power source fails. Note: For guidelines on emergency electrical power supply for life support equipment, see Appendix A.
1.2 This Standard does not include the emergency electrical power supply systems for hospitals that are covered by CSA Standard Z32.
1.3 This Standard does not cover the following:
(a),,the application of the emergency electrical power supply; (b),,emergency lighting unit equipment; (c),,distribution wiring; or (d),,emergency electrical power supplied from batteries.
