CSA Preface
This is the first edition of CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 60601-2-52, Medical electrical equipment - Part 2-52: Particular requirements for the basic safety and essential performance of medical beds, which is an adoption without modification of the identically titled IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) Standard 60601-2-52 (first edition, 2009-12). It is one in a series of Standards issued by CSA under Part II of the Canadian Electrical Code.
This Standard is intended to be used in conjunction with CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 60601-1:08, Medical electrical equipment - Part 1: General requirements for basic safety and essential performance (adopted IEC 60601-1:2005, with Canadian deviations).
Scope
Replacement:
This International Standard applies to the BASIC SAFETY and ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE of MEDICAL BEDS intended for adults, hereafter referred to as MEDICAL BED as defined in 201.3.212.
If a clause or subclause is specifically intended to be applicable to a MEDICAL BED only, or to ME SYSTEMS only, the title and content of that clause or subclause will say so. If that is not the case, the clause or subclause applies both to MEDICAL BED and to ME SYSTEMS, as relevant.
HAZARDS inherent in the intended physiological function of MEDICAL BED or ME SYSTEMS within the scope of this standard are not covered by specific requirements in this standard except in 7.2.13 and 8.4.1 of the general standard.

Il s'agit de l'adoption, sans modifications, de la norme CEI (Commission Électrotechnique Internationale) 60601-2-52 (première édition, 2009-12), qui porte le même titre. Cette norme fait partie d'une série de normes publiées par CSA lesquelles constituent le Code canadien de l'électricité, Deuxième partie.
Cette norme est conçue pour être utilisée de concert avec la norme CAN/CSA-C22.2 nº60601-1:08, Appareils électromédicaux - Partie 1 : Exigences générales pour la sécurité de base et les performances essentielles (norme CEI 60601-1:2005 adoptée, avec exigences propres au Canada).

La présente Norme internationale s'applique à la SÉCURITÉ DE BASE et aux PERFORMANCES ESSENTIELLES des LITS MEDICAUX destinés aux adultes, désignés ci-après sous le terme LITS MEDICAUX, tels que définis en 201.3.212.
Si un article ou un paragraphe est spécifiquement destiné à être applicable uniquement à un LIT MÉDICAL ou uniquement aux SYSTÈMES EM, le titre et le contenu de cet article ou de ce paragraphe l'indiquent. Si cela n'est pas le cas, l'article ou le paragraphe s'applique à la fois au LIT MÉDICAL et aux SYSTÈMES EM, selon le cas.
Les DANGERS inhérents à la fonction physiologique prévue des LITS MEDICAUX ou des SYSTÈMES EM dans le cadre du domaine d'application de la présente norme ne sont pas couverts par des exigences spécifiques contenues dans la présente norme, à l'exception de 7.2.13 et de 8.4.1 de la norme générale.
