Preface

This is the third edition of CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 60601-1-2, Medical electrical equipment - Part 1-2: General requirements for basic safety and essential performance - Collateral standard: Electromagnetic compatibility - Requirements and tests, which is an adoption without modification of the identically titled IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) Standard 60601-1-2 (third edition, 2007-03). It supersedes the previous editions published in 2003 as CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 60601-1-2, Medical electrical equipment - Part 1-2: General requirements for safety - Collateral standard: Electromagnetic compatibility - Requirements and tests (adopted CEI/IEC 60601-1-2:2001+A1:2004) and in 1994 as CAN/CSA-C22.2No. 601.1.2 (adopted CEI/IEC 601-1-2:1993). It is one in a series of Standards issued by CSA under Part II of the Canadian Electrical Code.

Scope and object

1.1 Scope

This International Standard applies to the BASIC SAFETY and ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE of MEDICAL ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT and MEDICAL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS, hereafter referred to as ME EQUIPMENT and ME SYSTEMS. This collateral standard applies to ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY of ME EQUIPMENT and ME SYSTEMS.

1.2 Object

The object of this collateral standard is to specify general requirements and tests for ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY of ME EQUIPMENT and ME SYSTEMS. They are in addition to the requirements of the general standard and serve as the basis for particular standards.

Ce document constitue la troisième édition de la CAN/CSA-C22.2 nº 60601-1-2, Appareils électromédicaux - Partie 1-2 : Exigences générales pour la sécurité de base et les performances essentielles - Norme collatérale : Compatibilité électromagnétique - Exigences et essais. II s'agit de l'adoption, sans modifications, de la norme CEI (Commission Électrotechnique Internationale) 60601-1-2 (troisième édition, 2007-03), qui porte le même titre. Cette norme remplace les éditions précédentes publiées en 2003 et intitulée CAN/CSA-C22.2 nº 60601-1-2, Appareils électromédicaux - Partie 1-2 : Règles générales de sécurité - Norme collatérale : Compatibilité électromagnétique - Exigences et essais (norme CEI/IEC 60601-1-2:2001+A1:2004 adoptée), et en 1994 qui portait la désignation CAN/CSA-C22.2 nº 601.1.2 (norme CEI/IEC 601-1-2:1993 adoptée). Cette norme fait partie d'une série de normes publiées par CSA lesquelles constituent le Code canadien de l'électricité, Deuxième partie.

Cette norme collatérale s'applique à la COMPATIBILITE ELECTROMAGNETIQUE des APPAREILS et des SYSTEMES EM.

1.2 Objet

La présente norme collatérale a pour objet de spécifier les exigences générales ainsi que les essais pour la COMPATIBILITE ELECTROMAGNETIQUE des APPAREILS et des SYSTEMES EM. Elles viennent en complément des exigences de la norme générale et servent de base pour les normes particulières.
