This Particular Standard specifies safety requirements for ANAESTHETIC MACHINES incorporating electrical devices designed for medical use. Additional non-electrical requirements are covered by other applicable ISO or equivalent national standards. This Particular Standard also covers ANAESTHETIC MACHINES which incorporate LUNG VENTILATORS and LUNG VENTILATORS intended for use with inhalational anaesthetic agents.
Note: Additional non-electrical requirements including some safety requirements are given in ISO 5358.
This particular Standard applies to ANAESTHETIC MACHINES installed and used in accordance with the Rules of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I.
The requirements of this Particular Standard are in addition to those of CSA Standard CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 601.1 and its supplement C22.2 No. 601.1S1, hereinafter referred to as the General Standard. For the purposes of testing and approving ANAESTHETIC MACHINES covered witin the scope of this Particular Standard, the ANAESTHETIC MACHINES must meet the combined requirements, as applicable, of both this Particular Standard and the General Standard.

La présente Norme Particulière spécifie les prescriptions relatives aux APPAREILS D'ANESTHÉSIE comportant des dispositifs électriques, conçus pour une utilisation médicale. Des prescriptions non électriques complémentaires sont couvertes par d'autres normes ISO ou nationales équivalentes applicables. Sont également couverts les APPAREILS D'ANESTHÉSIE qui comportent un VENTILATEUR PULMONAIRE ainsi que les VENTILATEURS PULMONAIRES spécifiés pour une utilisation avec agents anesthésiques d'inhalation.
Note. Des prescriptions non électriques complémentaires ainsi que quelques prescriptions de sécurité sont formulées dans ISO 5358.
La présente Norme particulière vise les APPAREILS D'ANESTHÉSIE installés et utilisés conformément au Code canadien de l'électricité, Première partie.
Les exigences énoncées dans cette Norme particulière complètent la norme CAN/CSA-C22.2 no 601.1 (y compris le Supplément C22.2 no 601.1S1), ci-après appelée Norme générale. Aux fins de mise à l'essai et d'approbation des APPAREILS D'ANESTHÉSIE visés par cette Norme particulière, ces derniers doivent être conformes aux exigences pertinentes combinées de cette Norme particulière et de la Norme générale.
