Preface
This is the second edition of CSA B836, Storage, handling, and dispensing of aviation fuels at aerodromes. It supersedes the first edition published in 2000.
This new edition has been updated to reflect current industry practices and extensively reorganized to make it easier to read and to locate information. Of particular note are the clauses detailing the required routine inspections and the filter element change criteria. This Standard now groups the required inspections into daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual categories to ensure that the user sees all of the items requiring inspection for each grouping. Also, the clause dealing with filter element change criteria has been revised to highlight the different requirements for coalescer elements and continuous fuel monitors.
The design requirements of this Standard are effective upon its publication for the construction of new, or the alteration of existing, facilities within the scope of this Standard. The implementation of all procedural requirements (training, operations, emergency response, etc.) will be effective as stipulated by the authority having jurisdiction.
This Standard was prepared by the Technical Committee on Storage, Handling, and Dispensing of Aviation Fuel, under the jurisdiction of the Strategic Steering Committee on Fire Safety and Fuel-Burning Equipment, and has been formally approved by the Technical Committee.
This Standard has been developed in compliance with Standards Council of Canada requirements for National Standards of Canada. It has been published as a National Standard of Canada by CSA Group.
