Scope and object
This clause of the General Standard applies except as follows:
1.1 Scope
Addition:
This Particular International Standard applies to LASER EQUIPMENT FOR MEDICAL APPLICATIONS, as defined in 2.1.111 classified as a CLASS 3B or 4 LASER PRODUCT according to 3.17 and 3.18 in IEC 825-1, hereinafter referred to as LASER EQUIPMENT.
NOTE - LASER EQUIPMENT for medical applications classified as a CLASS 1, 2 or CLASS 3A LASER PRODUCT, is covered by IEC 601- 1 and IEC 825-1.
1.2 Object
The object of this Particular Standard is to specify particular requirements for the safety of LASER EQUIPMENT for medical applications classified as a CLASS 3B or CLASS 4 LASER PRODUCT.
1.3 Particular Standards
Addition:
This Particular Standard refers to IEC 601-1, as amendment 1 (1991) and its amendment 2; it also refers to its Collateral Standards IEC 601-1-1 and IEC 601-1-2.
For brevity, Part 1 together with the Collateral Standards mentioned above are referred to in this Particular Standard either as the General Standard or as the General Requirement(s).
The numbering of sections, clauses, and subclauses of this Particular Standard corresponds to that of the General Standard. The changes to the text of the General Standard are specified by the use of the following words:
Replacement means that the clause or subclause of the General Standard is replaced completely by the text of this Particular Standard.
Addition means that the text of this Particular Standard is additional to the requirements of the General Standard.
Amendment means that the clause or subclause of the General Standard is amended as indicated by the text of this Particular Standard.
Subclauses or figures which are additional to those of the General Standard are numbered starting from 101, additional annexes are lettered AA, BB, etc., and additional items aa), bb), etc.
The term this Standard is used to make reference to the General Standard and this Particular Standard taken together.
Where there is no corresponding section, clause or subclause in this Particular Standard, the section, clause or subclause of the General Standard, although possibly not relevant, applies without modification; where it is intended that any part of the General Standard, although possibly relevant, is not to be applied, a statement to that effect is given in this Particular Standard.
Concerning LASER RADIATION safety of LASER EQUIPMENT, IEC 825-1 applies, except that the relevant requirements are specified, changed or amended in this Particular Standard.
Clauses and subclauses of the General Standard and IEC 825-1, which are not applicable to LASER EQUIPMENT for medical applications, are not necessarily indicated as not applicable.

Cette Norme Internationale Particulière s'applique aux APPAREILS À LASER À USAGES MÉDICAUX définis en 2.1.111, qui sont des APPAREILS À LASER DE CLASSE 3B ou 4 définis en 3.17 et 3.18 de la CEI 835-1. Par souci de simplification, ces appareils sont appelés APPAREILS À LASER dans la suite de la présente Norme Particulière.
NOTE - Les APPAREILS À LASER à usage médical de la CLASSE 1, 2 ou 3A sont couverts par la CEI 601-1 et la CEI 825-1.
1.2 Objet
L'objet de cette Norme Particulière est de spécifier des prescriptions particulières pour la sécurité des APPAREILS À LASER DE CLASSE 3B ou 4 utilisés dans des applications médicales.
1.3 Normes Particulières
La présente Norme Particulière se réfère à la CEI 601-1, telle que modifiée par son amendement 1(1991) et son amendement 2; elle se réfère également à ses Normes Collatérales CEI 601-1-1 et CEI 601-1-2.
Pour abréger, la partie 1 avec ses Normes Collatérales est désignée ci-dessous par le terme Norme Générale et les prescriptions qui en sont tirées sont désignées par le terme Prescription Générale.
La numérotation des sections, articles et paragraphes de la présente Norme Particulière est la même que celle de la Norme Générale. Les changements du texte de la Norme Générale sont précisés en utilisant les termes suivants:
Remplacement signifie que l'article ou le paragraphe de la Norme Générale est remplacé en totalité par le texte de la présente Norme Particulière.
Complément signifie que le texte de la présente Norme Particulière est un complément aux prescriptions de la Norme Générale.
Modification signifie que l'article ou le paragraphe de la Norme générale est modifié comme indiqué par le texte de la présente Norme Particulière.
Les paragraphes ou figures venant en complément de ceux de la Norme Générale sont numérotés à partir de 101, les annexes complémentaires sont désignées par les lettres AA, BB, etc et les points complémentaires par aa), bb) etc.
Le terme la présente Norme est utilisé quand on fait référence à la Norme Générale et à la présente Norme Particulière prises ensemble.
Quand il n'y a pas de section, d'article ou de paragraphe dans la présente Norme Particulière correspondant à une section, un article ou un paragraphe de la Norme Générale, cette dernière ou ce dernier, même si elle ou il n'est peut être pas approprié, s'applique sans modification; si l'on désire qu'une partie de la Norme Générale, même si elle est appropriée, ne s'applique pas, un énoncé de ce fait figure dans la présente Norme Particulière.
Quant à la sécurité du RAYONNEMENT LASER des APPAREILS À LASER, la CEI 825-1 s'applique, sauf quand des prescriptions appropriées sont précisées, modifiées ou corrigées dans cette Norme Particulière.
Les articles et paragraphes de la Norme Générale et de la CEI 825-1 qui ne s'appliquent pas aux APPAREILS À LASER à usages médicaux ne sont pas nécessairement indiqués non applicables.
